Apple expands presence in India, opens 100 small franchise stores

Description

Apple is yet to announce its plans to open its official outlet(s) in India just like it has in other countries. But before that can happen, the California-based company has reportedly opened over 100 new small stores in India which are under the franchise model. The stores are a part of an initiative where the company is aiming to expand six-fold of these outlets in the country in the coming year. Of course this means that it wants to take on Samsung and other smartphone vendors from China.

The report says that these stores measure 450 to 500 square feet in area and will be known as Apple Authorised Resellers. There are not company-owned outlets rather the stores that we usually see today.

With these Authorised Resellers, Apple plans to expand its reach and presence in high street and high profile locations in large cities, neighbourhood localities and tier II and III markets. This was confirmed by two senior trade partners. These stores are being setup in the capital city New Delhi as well as the National Capital Region, which includes new stores in Vasant Vihar, Malviya Nagar, South Extension and in Gurgaon’s Galleria Market. Apart from that, cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune and Chandigarh are also getting the new Apple Authorised Reseller stores.
